Most Halloween yard STLs look fine on the bed and fail by week two. Not because the model is bad. Because people print outdoor props in PLA like it's a desk figurine.

What actually happens:

• PLA goes brittle overnight once it sits wet and cold

• Hollow tombs with no drain hole fill with rain and split

• 0.8mm walls look sharp in the slicer and snap when you move the piece

What I print for a front yard:

• PETG, not PLA. It flexes. It takes a hose.

• 3 walls minimum on anything taller than 12 inches

• Drain hole at the lowest point of every hollow body. 6mm is enough.

• 15% gyroid infill. Grid infill shows through paint on large flats.

• Primer, then outdoor acrylic. Unpainted PETG still chalks in sun.

If the print keeps failing before it ever sees weather, that's a machine problem (bed, nozzle, first layer) — not a file problem. Don't reprint the same STL 6 times hoping the plastic changes its mind.
