Halloween yard props die on layer 1, not in the STL

Most haunted-yard prints that “don’t work” are fine files on a dirty bed.

If you’re printing outdoor props this season:

  • Hollow the big pieces. A solid tombstone is a brick that warps and eats a roll.

  • Print the first 3mm slower than your ego wants. Wind load doesn’t care about your 300mm/s profile.

  • Orient seams away from the street view. Nobody photographs the back of a skull.

  • PETG over PLA if the prop sits in sun. PLA slumps on a warm October porch.

I sell print-ready Halloween STLs for hobby printers. Repair is a separate 1-hour session if the machine itself is the problem — not bundled, not lifetime.

If your first layer looks like cottage cheese, stop the job. Fix the bed. Then print the prop.
