If your Halloween tombstone looks clean for 40 mm then turns into spaghetti, the file is usually fine.

Hobby FDM printers choke on tall, thin yard props for three reasons:

1. Part cooling drops as the part gets taller. The fan is still on, but the air is hitting the bed, not the current layer. Raise min layer time to 8–12 seconds on anything over 150 mm.

2. Brim, not raft. A 8–12 mm brim holds a 2-foot tombstone better than a raft and is easier to sand off before paint.

3. Don't print the whole haunt in one piece. Split at the hidden ledge. Glue after. Wind load on a one-piece print is how you get a cracked neck on October 30.

PLA outdoors will sag in sun. PETG or a cheap spray primer + outdoor paint lasts the season.

That's the difference between a file that "should work" and a prop that actually sits on a lawn.
