Most People Use Saunas Wrong — Here's What Nobody Tells You

Most sauna users walk in, sit down, and hope for the best. No hydration plan. No cooldown protocol. No idea when 15 minutes becomes dangerous.

Here's what the research shows:

  • Dehydration symptoms can begin within 8-10 minutes in a hot sauna if you haven't pre-hydrated properly

  • Skipping the cooldown phase puts unnecessary stress on your cardiovascular system

  • The difference between a beneficial session and a risky one comes down to preparation and protocol

The 3 Mistakes I See Every Week

1. Walking in dehydrated. If you haven't started hydrating at least 2 hours before your session, you're already behind. Water alone isn't enough — you need electrolytes.

2. No exit strategy. "I'll just stay until it feels too hot" is not a plan. You need hard time limits and a minute-by-minute awareness of your body's signals.

3. Cooling down too fast (or not at all). Jumping straight into ice water without a staged cooldown can cause blood pressure spikes. There's a safer way to do contrast therapy.

What I Built

I created Sauna Session Safety Mastery — a complete course covering hydration protocols, the 15-minute session blueprint, staged cooldown techniques, and emergency response.

If you take your health seriously, you should take your sauna practice seriously too.
