5 kitchen gadgets that actually changed how I cook

I've tested hundreds of kitchen gadgets over the past year. Most are gimmicks. But a few genuinely changed my daily routine.

1. A good silicone spatula set — Sounds basic, but a heat-resistant spatula that actually flexes right saves food and time. I use mine for everything from scrambled eggs to scraping jars clean.

2. A digital kitchen scale — Once you start weighing ingredients instead of measuring cups, your cooking gets way more consistent. Baking especially.

3. A mandoline slicer — Scary? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. Uniform slices in seconds. Use the guard.

4. An herb stripper — Those little hole-in-a-board tools that strip rosemary and thyme in one pull. Game changer if you cook with fresh herbs.

5. A magnetic knife strip — Free up counter space, keep your knives accessible, and they dry properly. Better than a knife block in every way.

None of these cost more than $20. The best kitchen upgrades are simple ones.
