3 ways to organize a rented room without losing your deposit
If you're living in a PG, hostel, or rented apartment in India, you already know the rule: no drilling, no nails, no permanent damage — or your deposit is gone.
Here are 3 things that actually work in small rented spaces:
1. Adhesive wall hooks (rated for real weight)
Skip the ₹20 hooks from the local store — most fail within a week. Look for hooks rated 3-5kg that use a strong adhesive strip you can remove cleanly with a hairdryer later (heat softens the glue).
2. Over-the-door hanging racks
Instead of buying a wardrobe, a hanging organizer on the back of your door instantly adds storage for bags, towels, and daily-wear clothes — zero installation.
3. Modular stackable organizers
Cheap plastic drawers stack vertically instead of spreading out, which matters when your entire room is 10x10 ft. Look for ones that don't require tools to assemble.
Small-space living doesn't have to mean cluttered or damaged walls. Curious what other renter/PG hacks people here use — drop them below.
