Guys if you have a product you need to sell. I will promote your product on TikTok and Instagram to many followers. You guys need help selling it i will sell it for you. You gotta spend money to make money. Let’s go!
Ran a bunch of paid promos for ecommerce brands over the past while and noticed the same mistakes over and over. If you're a Shopify/DTC founder thinking about paying for a shoutout, here's what actually matters:
1. The hook has to work without sound. Most people scroll with sound off. If your product isn't visually obvious in the first 1.5 seconds, you lose 70% of the audience before they even read the caption.
2. Landing page > ad creative. I've seen a killer video promo dump traffic onto a slow, cluttered product page and convert at under 1%. The promo did its job — the store didn't. Fix your page before you pay for traffic.
3. One CTA, one link, no friction. Don't send people to your homepage. Send them straight to the product with a single, obvious next step (discount code, limited stock, whatever creates urgency).
If you nail those three, a well-placed shoutout on the right account can genuinely outperform paid ads dollar-for-dollar because it feels native instead of like an ad.
Happy to break down what a good promo package looks like if anyone's curious.
