Your first KDP book dies in the listing, not the writing
Most first Amazon books fail after the manuscript is done.
The listing is the product. Title, subtitle, categories, and the first two bullet points decide whether anyone clicks. Writing quality only matters after that click.
Three things I check before anyone hits publish:
The title has to say who it's for in under 8 words. If a stranger can't tell, Amazon can't either.
Categories should match search intent, not your ego. "Business & Money" is not a strategy.
The cover has to read at thumbnail size. If you have to zoom to get the idea, it's dead on mobile.
Do those three before you spend a dollar on ads. Ads on a weak listing just burn money faster.
