The #1 thing killing your e-commerce conversion rate (it's not your product)
Most DTC brands obsess over their product photos and ad creative. But the real conversion killer? Your site's checkout flow.
I've audited 50+ e-commerce stores this year. Here's the pattern I keep seeing:
1. Too many steps to purchase. If your customer has to click more than 3 times to buy, you're losing 20-40% of them. Every extra field is friction.
2. No trust signals above the fold. Reviews, security badges, and "real human" elements need to be visible before they scroll.
3. Mobile experience is an afterthought. 70%+ of your traffic is mobile. If your site isn't designed mobile-first, you're designing for the minority.
4. Slow load times on product pages. Anything over 2.5 seconds and you're hemorrhaging sales. Compress images, lazy-load below-the-fold content, and ditch unnecessary scripts.
The fix isn't a redesign from scratch — it's targeted improvements to the pages that matter most. Start with your product page and checkout, and measure everything.
