The 3 mistakes every beginner makes in the gym (and what to do instead)

I've coached dozens of beginners and the same three things trip up almost everyone.

1. Program hopping

You don't need the perfect program. You need ONE program followed consistently for 12 weeks. The magic isn't in the exercises — it's in the progressive overload. Pick a simple full-body routine and stick with it.

2. Ego lifting

Nobody in the gym cares how much weight is on your bar. But your joints will care in 5 years. Drop the weight 20%, slow down your reps, and actually feel the muscle working. Growth comes from tension, not momentum.

3. Ignoring recovery

Sleep 7-8 hours. Eat enough protein (0.7-1g per pound of bodyweight). Drink water. This isn't optional — this is where the gains actually happen. You don't grow in the gym, you grow recovering from the gym.

If you're a beginner who wants structured training, accountability, and a community that actually helps you get stronger — that's exactly what I built Iron Circle for.
