The 3 mistakes every beginner makes in the gym (and what to do instead)
I've trained enough beginners to see the same patterns over and over. Here are the three things that hold people back the most:
1. Program hopping
You don't need the "perfect" program. You need ANY decent program done consistently for 12+ weeks. Stop switching every 2 weeks because you saw something new on TikTok. Progressive overload on basic compound movements will get you 80% of the way there.
2. Skipping the boring stuff
Sleep, water, protein. Not supplements, not pre-workout, not the newest recovery gadget. If you're sleeping 5 hours and eating fast food every day, no workout plan is saving you. Fix the basics first.
3. Going too heavy too fast
Your ego is not your friend. Learn the movement patterns with lighter weight first. Your joints will thank you in 5 years. Nobody at the gym is judging you for using lighter weights — they're too busy looking at themselves.
The real secret to getting in shape? There is no secret. Show up 3-4x a week, eat enough protein, sleep 7+ hours, and be patient. That's it.
If you're a beginner looking for a structured plan to follow — I built exactly that inside IronMind. No fluff, just what works.
