Why most solo Roblox devs waste 40+ hours on assets they should never have modeled themselves
Been building in Roblox Studio for a while and noticed the same pattern with solo devs: they burn their first month on a game modeling props and rigs instead of building actual gameplay.
Here's the math that changed how I think about it — if you're solo, your time is the scarcest resource you have. A basic rigged character or environment prop can eat 5-10 hours if you're not a dedicated 3D artist. Multiply that by every asset your game needs and you've spent weeks before a single player has touched your game.
The devs who ship fast do one of two things:
They scope their game around assets they can make quickly (low detail, stylized, simple)
They source pre-built assets and spend that saved time on mechanics, monetization, and polish — the stuff that actually determines if a game succeeds on the platform
Most people don't realize #2 is an option until they're already burned out on #1.
Started RigWorks because I kept seeing this — a plug-and-play library of Roblox Studio models so solo devs can skip the modeling grind and get straight to building. If you're stuck in asset-creation mode instead of shipping mode, it might be worth rethinking where your hours are going.
