The listing appointment objection nobody preps for

Every agent drills price objections. Almost nobody drills this one, and it's the one that actually loses listings:

"We're still interviewing one more agent before we decide."

That's not a price objection. It's a trust objection wearing a price costume. If you respond with more value stacking or a discount, you lose — because the seller already told you the decision isn't about money, it's about who they trust more.

What actually works:

  1. Don't fight for the slot. Ask for the standard. "Totally fair — what's making you want to talk to someone else before deciding?" This isn't defensive, it's curious. Sellers relax when you're not competing for approval.

  1. Isolate the real gap. Usually it's one of three things: they don't trust your pricing strategy, they don't trust your marketing plan, or they haven't emotionally committed to selling yet. Find out which before you say another word.

  1. Close the gap out loud, in the room. Don't wait for a follow-up email. If it's pricing trust, walk them through your comps live. If it's marketing, show them exactly what happens the day you take the listing.

The agents closing at a higher rate aren't smoother talkers. They've just said this exact conversation out loud enough times that it doesn't rattle them anymore.

If you want to drill this specific objection before your next appointment, we built a voice roleplay tool for exactly this inside CloserOS — you speak the seller's line, practice your response out loud, and get a tighter version back before you walk in the door.
