5 Things Most People Get Wrong About Shipping a Car

1. The cheapest quote is usually the worst deal.
Rock-bottom carriers cut corners — delayed pickups, sketchy insurance, zero communication. You'll spend more in stress than you saved.
2. Open transport is fine for 95% of cars.
Unless you're shipping a six-figure exotic, enclosed transport is overkill. Open carriers are safe, insured, and way more affordable.
3. Timing matters more than you think.
Snowbird season (Oct-Mar) drives prices up on north-to-south routes. Ship in the off-season if you can flex on dates.
4. Always verify carrier insurance.
Every legitimate carrier has cargo insurance. Ask for the certificate. If they dodge the question, walk away.
5. Door-to-door doesn't always mean your driveway.
If you're on a narrow street or cul-de-sac, the truck might not fit. Terminal pickup is sometimes the smarter move.
