The 3 mistakes that cost students 30+ marks in JEE Mains
After going through thousands of JEE Mains questions and student responses, I keep seeing the same 3 patterns that cost students easy marks:
1. Skipping dimensional analysis
Most Physics numericals can be sanity-checked in 10 seconds with dimensional analysis. If your answer for velocity comes out in kg·m², something went wrong. Students skip this and lose marks on questions they actually knew.
2. Not converting units before plugging in
Mixing CGS and SI in the same calculation is the #1 source of "I did everything right but got the wrong answer." Make unit conversion your FIRST step, not an afterthought.
3. Spending 4+ minutes on a single question
JEE Mains gives you ~2 minutes per question on average. If you're stuck after 3 minutes, mark it and move on. The marks you lose by not attempting easier questions at the end are way more than the one tough question you're grinding on.
I built JEE Vault specifically to help students practice smarter — 1000+ topic-wise questions with step-by-step solutions so you can identify these patterns in your own prep and fix them before exam day.
