The 3 recovery mistakes killing your performance

Most athletes train hard but recover like amateurs. Here's what the research actually says:

1. You're not sleeping enough — and it's not close.

A Stanford study on basketball players showed that extending sleep to 10 hours improved sprint times by 4% and free throw accuracy by 9%. Most athletes are running on 6-7 hours and wondering why they plateau.

2. You're stretching wrong (or at the wrong time).

Static stretching before training reduces power output by up to 5.4%. Save it for post-workout. Pre-workout should be dynamic — leg swings, arm circles, bodyweight movements that mirror your session.

3. You're ignoring the 30-minute refueling window.

Post-training, your muscles are primed to absorb glycogen at 2-3x the normal rate. A 3:1 carb-to-protein ratio within 30 minutes accelerates recovery dramatically. Miss this window and you're leaving gains on the table.

These aren't hacks — they're basics that 90% of athletes get wrong.
