Why we moved our agency's client sites to NVMe VPS (and what it actually changed)
Most agencies host client sites on shared hosting or a single cheap VPS until something breaks during a client demo. Here's what actually matters when you're responsible for other people's websites:
1. NVMe vs SATA SSD is not a marketing spec.
On shared/SATA hosting, WordPress + WooCommerce sites choke on database-heavy pages (cart, checkout, admin). Moving to NVMe-backed VPS cut our average TTFB from ~800ms to under 150ms on the same stack, no code changes.
2. One-click deployments save you from yourself.
If you're managing 10+ client sites, doing manual server setup for each one is how you end up with inconsistent PHP versions and forgotten SSL renewals. Standardizing deployment means every new client site is provisioned the same way, every time.
3. Backups only count if you've tested a restore.
Daily automated backups are table stakes. The real question: have you actually restored one under pressure? If not, you don't have backups — you have hope.
4. Uptime SLAs matter less than who you can reach at 2am.
99.9% still means ~8 hours of downtime a year. What matters more is whether there's a real support channel when a client site goes down during business hours in their timezone, not just a ticket queue.
We built Khaby Hosting around these four points specifically for agencies managing multiple client sites — NVMe VPS, one-click provisioning, daily backups (that we've tested), and direct chat support. Happy to answer questions if you're evaluating a move off shared hosting.
