Most people think sports card flipping requires thousands of dollars and years of experience. It doesn't.

I started with $50, a phone, and zero connections. Within a few months I'd 10x'd that initial investment just by following a simple system: buy undervalued, sell at the right moment.

Here's what actually matters when you're starting out:

  1. Stop chasing hype cards. Everyone's bidding on the same Wembanyama rookie. The margins are razor thin. Instead, look for cards that are temporarily undervalued — injured players about to return, guys who just got traded to a contender, prospects having breakout minor league seasons.

  1. Timing is everything. Buy during the offseason when nobody cares. Sell during peak moments — All-Star weekend, playoff runs, award announcements. The same card can be worth 3x more just based on timing.

  1. Start with what you know. If you follow the NBA, flip basketball cards. If you're a baseball guy, stick to baseball. Your existing knowledge is your edge over people who are just following what TikTok tells them to buy.

  1. Grade selectively. Don't send everything to PSA. Only grade cards where a 9 or 10 significantly increases the value. Otherwise you're just burning money on grading fees.

The hobby is booming right now and there's real money to be made if you approach it like a business, not a gamble.

I put everything I've learned into a step-by-step guide — from finding your first undervalued cards to scaling up to consistent monthly profits. If you're interested in getting into the flip game the smart way, check it out.
