August 16, 1977. Graceland. Elvis Presley's last meal has been debated for decades, but the most consistent account points to a spread that was pure Elvis — four scoops of ice cream, six chocolate chip cookies, and his infamous fried peanut butter and banana sandwich.

The man who changed music forever went out eating exactly how he lived: excessive, indulgent, unapologetic.

We recreated this meal at Last Meal. The sandwich alone took us three tries to get right — the bread has to be fried in a specific amount of butter until it's almost burnt, the peanut butter needs to be warm enough to melt into the banana, and the whole thing needs to be pressed flat.

The ice cream? We went with vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and butter pecan — the four flavors reportedly stocked at Graceland at all times.
