The 3 things every beginner dancer gets wrong (and how to fix them)
I've taught hundreds of beginners over the years, and almost everyone makes the same three mistakes in their first month.
1. They try to memorize steps instead of feeling the beat.
Your body already knows how to move to music — you just forgot. Before learning any choreography, spend 5 minutes a day just bouncing to a song you love. No mirror. No pressure. Just feel it.
2. They compare themselves to people who've been dancing for years.
You wouldn't compare your first day at the gym to someone who's been lifting for a decade. Dance is the same. Your only competition is yesterday's version of you.
3. They practice once a week and wonder why it's not clicking.
10 minutes daily beats 2 hours on Sunday. Consistency is the cheat code. Your muscles need repetition, not marathon sessions.
I built Leading Dance specifically for people who are starting from zero. Structured lessons, a supportive community, and zero judgment.
If you've ever wanted to learn but felt too intimidated to start — this is your sign.
