The 3 moves every beginner dancer should learn first
Most people think learning to dance means memorizing choreography. It doesn't.
If you're starting from zero, here are the 3 moves that'll make you look like you know what you're doing at any party, wedding, or social event:
1. The Two-Step
Simple weight shifts, left to right, on beat. This is your home base. Master this and you'll never look lost on a dance floor again.
2. The Body Roll
Not the dramatic movie version — a subtle one. Chest forward, core follows. It adds texture to literally any move and makes you look 10x more confident.
3. The Pivot Turn
A clean quarter or half turn on one foot. It's the easiest way to change direction without looking awkward.
That's it. Three moves. Practice each for 10 minutes and you'll already be ahead of 90% of beginners.
I teach all of these (and way more) inside Leading Dance — a beginner-friendly course built for adults who've never danced but want to start. $49.01/year, no prior experience needed.
