Talking isn’t the only way through

A lot of people who are struggling have already tried talking it out. Sometimes that helps. Sometimes you leave the conversation with the same tightness in your chest.

That’s not a personal failure. Words are one medium. The nervous system also responds to other ones: handwriting until the page fills, a walk with no podcast, breath you can count, cold water, a room with the lights off.

None of this replaces care from a licensed professional. It’s the other half people skip — practice you can do with your hands and body when talking has run out.

If you’ve been circling the same thoughts, pick one medium this week and give it ten honest minutes. Not to “fix” yourself. Just to see what happens when you stop using language as the only tool.
