Thread count is a scam — Anything over 400TC is marketing. What actually matters is fiber length. Long-staple cotton (like Egyptian or Supima) creates fewer joins per thread, which means a smoother, more durable fabric.

Sateen > Percale for luxury feel — Percale is crisp and cool (think hotel sheets). Sateen has a buttery, luminous drape. For the "wow this feels expensive" reaction, go sateen.

Buy fewer sets, buy better — Two premium sets in rotation will outlast and outperform five cheap ones. Your cost-per-night actually goes down.

Skip white if you're running a rental — Ivory or natural tones hide minor staining better and still photograph beautifully for your listing.
