Why your "healthy" lunch still leaves you hungry an hour later

Why your "healthy" lunch still leaves you hungry an hour later

If you've ever eaten a big salad for lunch and been starving by 2pm, this is why: most "healthy" lunches are missing one of the 5 core building blocks — usually protein or healthy fat.

Here's the quick fix I teach beginners:

The Hand-Portion Check — before you eat, look at your plate and ask:

  • Do I have a palm-sized portion of protein? (chicken, tofu, eggs, beans)

  • Do I have a thumb-sized portion of fat? (avocado, olive oil, nuts)

  • Do I have a cupped-hand of complex carbs? (rice, quinoa, whole grains)

  • Is at least half my plate vegetables?

If you're missing the protein or fat, that's almost always why you crash and get hungry again quickly — plain vegetables digest fast and don't sustain you.

Simple fix: add a palm of protein and a thumb of fat to your next "healthy" salad or bowl. You'll notice the difference in how long you stay full.

This is one small piece of a full framework I teach in more depth — but even this one adjustment fixes 90% of "why am I hungry again" problems I see from beginners.
