The 3 training mistakes every intermediate lifter makes (and what to do instead)

You've been lifting for a couple years. You're past the beginner gains. And now progress feels like pulling teeth.

Here's what's probably going wrong:

1. You're still training like a beginner. 5x5 got you here, but it won't get you there. Your body adapted to linear progression 18 months ago. You need periodization — planned phases of volume, intensity, and deload. If you don't know what a mesocycle is, that's problem #1.

2. You're optimizing the wrong variable. You're obsessing over protein timing and creatine loading while sleeping 5 hours and training 6 days a week on a program you found on Reddit. Recovery IS the adaptation. Training is just the stimulus.

3. You're avoiding your weak points. That exercise you hate? It's probably the one you need most. Posterior chain work, mobility, unilateral training — boring, uncomfortable, and exactly what separates the guy who looks like he lifts from the guy who actually performs.

The fix isn't a new program. It's a system — training, nutrition, recovery, and mindset working together instead of against each other.

That's what we break down every week at Man Enough. If you're past the beginner phase and want to stop guessing, this is where you level up.
