Most people watching live esports are reacting to kills. The actual edge is in reading map control before the fight even happens. Three signals I look for on every single map, every single round:

1. Utility usage asymmetry

If one side has burned 3+ utility pieces (smokes/flashes/mollies) clearing early and the other side hasn't used anything, that's not neutral information — it's a tell on who's playing for space vs. who's playing for a pick. Teams sitting on full utility deep into a round are almost always setting up a retake or a late execute.

2. Rotation timing vs. info timing

Watch when a team rotates relative to when they actually got information. A rotation that happens before a confirmed pick is a read (someone's trusting a sound cue or a hunch) — a rotation that happens well after a pick is a team playing scared or out of position. Both are exploitable if you're tracking live map betting markets, because books are slow to move on rotation reads vs. kill feed.

3. Economy-adjusted aggression

A "full buy vs full buy" round tells you nothing on its own. What matters is aggression relative to the economy reset that's coming. Teams playing aggressively on a round where they know they'll force next round anyway are playing with house money — and that changes how much stock to put in an early map lead.

None of these show up in a box score. They show up if you're actually watching the map.
