I lost 36kg. The hardest part wasn't the diet — it was quitting the restart.

For years I didn't have a weight problem, I had a restarting problem.

Every Monday was "day one" again. New plan, new motivation, three weeks of discipline, one bad weekend, then silence for a month. I didn't need a better diet. I needed to stop treating every setback like a reason to start over from zero.

The thing that actually changed it: I stopped trying to build "a routine" and started stacking one habit at a time, in order, with a floor I couldn't fall below on a bad day. Not a perfect day — a floor. A minimum I could hit even at my worst, so a bad Tuesday never turned into a bad month again.

Most habit advice assumes you're either fully in or fully out. You're not. You're inconsistent, some weeks are chaos, and that's normal — the system just has to survive that, not pretend it won't happen.

Three things that actually moved the needle for me:

  1. One habit at a time. Stacking five "new me" habits on day one is why day one always fails.

  2. A floor, not a peak. Define the minimum, not the ideal.

  3. Track the return, not the streak. The whole game is how fast you get back after missing a day — not whether you miss one.

36kg down, and the biggest win honestly wasn't the number — it was never having to say "starting over" again.

If you're in the exact loop I was in, I write about this stuff daily. Come say hi.
