3 reasons you're failing math (and how to fix them)
Most high schoolers who struggle with math aren't bad at it. They just have gaps nobody bothered to fill.
1. You memorized formulas instead of understanding them.
If you can't explain why the quadratic formula works, you're going to freeze on any problem that looks slightly different from the textbook. Understanding > memorization, every time.
2. You're skipping the fundamentals.
Struggling with trigonometry? It's probably because your algebra foundations have cracks. Math builds on itself — you can't skip floors and expect the building to stand.
3. You study alone and never check your reasoning.
Reading your notes back to yourself feels productive but isn't. You need someone to challenge your thinking and catch mistakes in real-time.
I tutor high schoolers in math and science, and these three things come up in almost every student I work with. If any of this sounds familiar, that's exactly what we fix inside MathSci Hub.
