The reason you don't have momentum (and how to fix it)
Most people think momentum is something you wait for.
They're waiting to feel motivated. Waiting for the right moment. Waiting for things to line up.
Here's the truth: momentum isn't a feeling. It's a byproduct of action.
When I started studying high performers — not the Instagram version, but actual research on what separates people who build things from people who don't — one pattern kept showing up:
They don't start when they feel ready. They start, and readiness follows.
The science behind this is called behavioral activation. The brain releases dopamine in response to action, not intention. You don't feel motivated and then act. You act, and THEN you feel motivated.
So if you're stuck, here's the only framework you need right now:
Pick ONE thing you want to build momentum toward
Make the smallest possible version of it take less than 2 minutes
Do it right now. Today. Not later.
Repeat tomorrow.
The 2-minute version compounds. Within 30 days you'll have done something 30 times. Within 90 days it becomes automatic.
That's how momentum is built — one small, consistent rep at a time.
