I've trained dozens of nail techs and these same mistakes come up every single time. If you're just starting out, save this.

1. Rushing your prep

Your prep is literally 80% of the job. If the nail lifts in 3 days, it's not the product — it's your prep. Push cuticles properly, dehydrate, use primer. Every. Single. Time.

2. Over-filing the natural nail

You don't need to sand it down to nothing. A light buff to remove shine is all you need. Over-filing = damage = unhappy clients = no rebookings.

3. Wrong bead ratio

If you're doing acrylic, your liquid-to-powder ratio matters more than anything. Too wet = slow cure, bubbles, and lifting. Too dry = lumpy application. Practice your bead consistency until it's second nature.

4. Not learning to work clean

Dust on the nail before top coat? Product on the cuticle area? These things scream amateur. Take your time and clean up before every coat.

5. Undercharging

This is the biggest one. Your time has value. If you're charging $20 for a full set that takes 2 hours, you're paying yourself less than minimum wage after product costs. Know your worth and price accordingly.
