The #1 mistake beginners make when listing products on Etsy (and how to fix it)

Most new Etsy sellers spend hours making a beautiful product, take decent photos, write a quick title... and then wonder why nobody finds their listing.

The problem? They're writing titles for humans, not for Etsy's search engine.

Etsy SEO is completely different from Google. Here's what actually works:

Front-load your keywords. Your first 2-3 words matter more than anything. Instead of "Beautiful Handmade Ceramic Mug," try "Ceramic Coffee Mug Handmade — Minimalist Pottery Gift for Her."

Use all 13 tags. Every single one. Mix broad tags ("ceramic mug") with specific long-tail tags ("handmade pottery gift for mom"). Most beginners leave 5-6 tags blank. That's leaving money on the table.

Match your tags to your title. Etsy's algorithm looks for consistency between your title, tags, and categories. If your title says "coffee mug" but none of your tags do, you're confusing the algorithm.

Check what's actually ranking. Before you write anything, search your product on Etsy. Look at the top 5 listings. What keywords are they using? That's your blueprint.

This alone can double your impressions in a week. I've seen it happen over and over with new sellers.

If you want the full 7-day system I use to rank products on Etsy, Shopify, and other platforms, that's exactly what we teach inside Narah eCommerce. But honestly — just applying these 4 tips will put you ahead of 90% of new sellers.
