5 personal care products most people overpay for (and what to use instead)

I've been deep in the beauty and personal care space for a while now, and one thing that drives me crazy is how much people overpay for basics.

Here are 5 products where you're probably leaving money on the table:

1. Facial cleanser — You don't need a $40 cleanser. A gentle, pH-balanced formula for under $15 does the same job.

2. Moisturizer — The expensive ones love adding fragrance. Skip it. Your skin doesn't care about the scent.

3. Body wash — Name-brand body washes are 80% water and marketing. Look at the ingredients, not the packaging.

4. Deodorant — Aluminum-free options have gotten really good. And they're half the price of "clinical strength" stuff that barely works better.

5. Lip balm — Stop buying $12 lip balms. Seriously.

This is exactly why I started Personal Needs Co. — to curate affordable, quality essentials without the markup.
