5 Shopify Mistakes Killing Your Conversion Rate (And How to Fix Them)

I've audited hundreds of Shopify stores. These 5 mistakes show up in almost every store stuck under $10K/mo:

1. Your product page has no urgency. No stock counters, no social proof, no reason to buy NOW. Add a "X sold in the last 24 hours" counter and watch what happens.

2. You're running traffic to your homepage. Your homepage isn't a landing page. Send paid traffic directly to your best product page or a dedicated collection page.

3. Your checkout has too much friction. Enable Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and every express checkout option available. Every extra step loses 10-15% of buyers.

4. No post-purchase upsell. You're leaving 15-30% of revenue on the table if you're not offering a one-click upsell after checkout. Apps like ReConvert or AfterSell make this dead simple.

5. Your email flows are broken (or don't exist). Abandoned cart, welcome series, and post-purchase flows should be generating 20-30% of your total revenue. If they're not, that's your biggest lever.

I break down stuff like this every week in eCom Edge Pro — real tactics, not theory. If you're a Shopify seller trying to break past $10K/mo, this is built for you.

Why most people are sleeping on local AI models

Everyone's talking about the big frontier models. GPT-5, Gemini Ultra, Claude — the arms race is real.

But here's what most people are missing: local AI is quietly becoming incredibly capable.

In the last 6 months:

  • Open-source models under 8B parameters are beating GPT-3.5 on most benchmarks

  • Quantization techniques let you run serious models on a MacBook Air

  • Fine-tuning a model for your specific use case now takes hours, not weeks

  • Tools like Ollama and LM Studio made local inference dead simple

The implication? You don't need to send your data to the cloud anymore for 90% of tasks. Privacy-sensitive industries (healthcare, legal, finance) are about to have their ChatGPT moment — but entirely on-device.

This is the kind of stuff I break down every week in my newsletter. Not just what's happening, but what it means for builders, founders, and people who want to stay ahead.
