1. They build in public, not in isolation. A finished project nobody reviewed is worth less than a half-finished one that got torn apart in code review. Live feedback catches bad habits before they calcify.

2. They pick one lane before they're "ready." Trying to learn data science, cloud, and security at once means finishing none of them. Pick the track that matches a real job posting you want, and go deep.

3. They treat tooling as part of the curriculum, not an afterthought. Knowing the theory but fumbling the actual professional software stack in an interview is a fast way to lose an offer.
