Why most VR headsets feel laggy — and what we did differently

Been building NexusVR for the last year and want to share something most VR brands won't tell you: the biggest complaint isn't resolution, it's latency.

Motion-to-photon delay over 20ms is what causes that subtle nausea and disconnect during fast-paced games. Most consumer wireless headsets sit at 30-50ms because they're compressing video over standard WiFi protocols.

We spent months tuning a dedicated 60GHz wireless link to get NexusVR Prime under 12ms motion-to-photon — on par with wired setups, but with zero cables. Paired with 120Hz displays and 4K-per-eye clarity, competitive gameplay finally feels physical again, not floaty.

If you're evaluating VR headsets for anything competitive (FPS, rhythm, racing), latency spec matters more than the marketing resolution number. Ask any brand for their motion-to-photon number before you buy — most won't have one.
