The 3 Notion pages every student actually needs (and why most templates are overkill)

I've been designing Notion templates for two years now, and here's what I've learned: most template packs are bloated. 47 databases, 12 dashboards, synced blocks everywhere — it looks impressive in the preview, but nobody actually uses all of that.

After working with hundreds of students, I've narrowed it down to 3 pages that actually move the needle:

1. The Weekly Reset Page

Not a daily planner. Not a semester overview. A weekly page where you brain-dump everything on Sunday night — tasks, deadlines, priorities — and drag them into your week. Takes 15 minutes. Prevents the Monday morning spiral.

2. A Simple Habit Tracker

No streaks, no gamification, no guilt. Just a table with your 3-5 habits and checkboxes. The magic is in the simplicity — you actually open it every day because it doesn't overwhelm you.

3. One Dashboard That Links Everything

Your assignments, your habits, your schedule — all on one page. Not because databases need to be connected, but because you need ONE place to look at when you sit down to work.

That's it. Three pages. Everything else is decoration.

I built all three (plus a few extras) into the templates at Notion Atelier. They're designed to be minimal, aesthetic, and actually usable — not just pretty screenshots for Pinterest.
