The $5/day meal plan that changed how I eat
I used to spend $15-20/day on takeout. Not because I wanted to — because I never had a plan.
The problem was never cooking skill. It was decision fatigue. By 6pm I'm too drained to figure out what to make, so I order DoorDash again.
Here's what actually fixed it:
Batch cooking on Sunday. 2 hours. That's it. I prep 80% of my meals for the week in one session.
The key is building around 3 base proteins and 4 versatile sides that remix into different meals:
Grilled chicken → wraps on Monday, grain bowls on Tuesday, salads on Wednesday
Baked salmon → rice plates, pasta, tacos
Turkey meatballs → subs, over greens, with roasted veggies
Add a solid grocery list organized by store aisle and you're in and out in 20 minutes.
The math: ~$35/week on groceries for someone eating clean. That's $5/day vs the $15+ most people spend eating out.
I started building these plans for myself, then friends kept asking for them. Now I drop a new one every Monday inside NovaMeals.
If you're tired of the "what should I eat" spiral, this is the fix.
