La règle des 50/30/20 adaptée aux infirmier(e)s

Most budgeting tips don't work for nurses. Why? Because your income changes every month—overtime, night shift premiums, weekend on-call shifts.

Here's how I adapt the 50/30/20 rule:

50% — Fixed costs

Rent, insurance, transportation, meals. Base your calculations on your base salary, not on a good month.

30% — Pleasures

Going out, travel, shopping. If you have a slower month, cut back here first.

20% — Savings + debt

Emergency fund, loan repayments. Never touch this money.

The nursing bonus: Anything above your base salary (overtime, bonuses) → 70% savings, 30% spending.

In six months using this method, I’ve seen nurses save between $3,000 and $8,000 more than expected.

I've created a Google Sheets template that automates all of this. One file, no hassle.
