ORB Pro — Automated NQ Trading for NinjaTrader 8
Automated NQ Trading. Rules-Based. Tested. Live.
A systematic Opening Range Breakout strategy for NinjaTrader 8, built for NQ and MNQ futures. One defined rule set, fixed risk per trade, and a transparent, independently verified live track record. No hype, no promises — just a repeatable process you run in your own account.
What ORB Pro is
ORB Pro applies a rules-based Opening Range Breakout approach to every qualifying session. Entries, exits and risk are all defined in code — there are no discretionary decisions, no averaging into losers, and no attempt to predict the market. The same logic that was tested is the logic that runs.
It installs as a strategy inside your own NinjaTrader 8, trades through your own broker, and hands execution to the machine so it stays consistent regardless of the day.
The results, separated clearly
Most trading marketing blurs backtests, simulations and live results together. We keep them apart on purpose, because that distinction is the whole point.
Historical Backtest — MNQ (Jan 2020 – Aug 2026) Run on high-resolution 1-minute data, with slippage and commissions modeled.
Net profit: +$30,057
Profit factor: 1.48
Win rate: 75.9%
Max drawdown: −$1,123
Trades: 3,845
Out-of-Sample — MNQ (Jun 2024 – Aug 2026) The same rules, tested on a later period after the parameters were fixed.
Net profit: +$15,401
Profit factor: 1.58
Win rate: 75.5%
Max drawdown: −$885
Live Brokerage — verified on Kinfo Real broker fills, independently tracked — not a backtest.
Profit to date after 2 weeks: +$3,281
Win rate: 62.75%
Average gain: +$45
Trades: 51 (32 W / 19 L)
Backtests and simulations are hypothetical. Live results can differ due to slippage, latency, commissions, liquidity and changing market conditions. Past performance, whether actual or simulated, is not indicative of future results.
Built for prop firm challenges
Small, consistent risk per trade and a high positive-day rate are exactly what a trailing maximum-loss limit rewards. That makes ORB Pro a natural fit for prop firm evaluations.
We ran a historical simulation over the backtest — treating every trading day as a possible evaluation start — against common evaluation rules (a profit target with a trailing max-loss limit, like Topstep). At conservative sizing (1 MNQ per $50K):
~96% historical pass rate — reached the target before breaching the limit
0 drawdown breaches in the backtest at this sizing
Median ~7–8 months to reach the target — steady, not a sprint (~4% of windows didn't reach it within a year)
Prefer speed over caution? Doubling the position size (2 MNQ per $50K) roughly halves the time to target (~3–4 months) — but introduces a real chance of breaching the drawdown limit first. You choose the trade-off.
Once funded, the same backtest gives a sense of cadence per contract: roughly $23/day and $378/month per MNQ, with 79.5% positive days.
This is a historical simulation under one set of assumptions — illustrative, not a forecast, and not a guarantee of passing any evaluation. Each firm's rules differ and change over time.
