5 grooming mistakes most men make (and how to fix them)

Been cutting hair for years and these are the mistakes I see every single day:

1. Washing your hair every day.

You're stripping the natural oils. Every 2-3 days is the sweet spot for most guys. If you have oily hair, use a dry shampoo between washes.

2. Using the wrong product for your hair type.

Pomade on thin hair? Disaster. Matte clay on thick curls? Waste of money. Match the product to your texture — ask your barber next time.

3. Ignoring your skin after shaving.

If you're not using an aftershave balm (not the alcohol-based stuff your dad used), you're leaving irritation and ingrown hairs on the table. A good balm calms the skin and prevents razor bumps.

4. Getting a haircut at the wrong time.

Most guys wait until they "need" a cut. By that point, you've looked average for 2 weeks. Book your next appointment the day of your current cut — stay sharp, not reactive.

5. Skipping the neckline between cuts.

A clean neckline is the difference between looking put-together and looking like your last haircut was a month ago. Learn to clean it up yourself or come in for a quick lineup.

The best-groomed men aren't doing anything complicated — they're just consistent.
