Why I built a whole world around a giant's hand (and what it taught me about scale)

I've spent the last while building a tiny fictional world where a giant hand helps a hidden civilization of little people survive. Sounds simple. It's not.

The hardest part of worldbuilding at this scale isn't the giant — it's the tiny details. Once you shrink your audience's frame of reference down to "person standing in a fingerprint," every prop, every shadow, every gust of wind needs new rules. A breeze that's nothing to us is a windstorm to them. A single footstep is an earthquake.

That constraint ended up being the whole creative engine. Contrast is what makes scale feel real — you don't need bigger, you need a fixed small reference point next to something enormous, and the gap does all the emotional work.

Same principle applies outside of storytelling too: if you want something to feel impressive, don't inflate it — shrink the frame around it instead.

Posting cinematic shots and reels from this world as I build it out. If tiny worlds and giant kindness are your thing, come say hi.
