Most routing engines are built for cars. When you ask them for a bike line, they still optimize for time. That puts you on the arterial that shaved 90 seconds — the same road with the door zone, the right-hook corner, and the bus that does not see you.

Pathwise does the opposite. Safest asks the graph for cycletrack, quiet residential, and low-speed streets first. Fastest is there if you need it. You see a score, not a green line that pretends every lane is equal.

I built it because I was tired of arriving shaken from a "12-minute" ride that spent eight of those minutes in mixed traffic. If you ride a bike or a scooter in a city, try a commute you already know and look at the band it comes back with. If it says Caution on a street you thought was fine, believe the street, not the old habit.
