Why your dog hates the car (and what we learned fixing it)
Most dogs don't actually hate car rides. They hate the anxiety that comes with them — unfamiliar sounds, sudden stops, the association with vet visits.
After hundreds of pet transport runs, here's what we've found actually works:
The 10-minute rule. Dogs that spend 10+ minutes in the car before it moves are significantly calmer during the trip. We always arrive early and let your dog settle in.
Familiar scents win. We ask owners to send a blanket or toy. Sounds small, but it cuts anxious panting in half.
Routine > reassurance. Dogs don't understand "it's okay, buddy." They understand patterns. Same driver, same approach, same calm energy — that's what makes the difference.
This is why we built PawRide. Not just rides — calm rides for dogs whose owners can't always make the trip themselves.
If you know someone who needs this — an elderly neighbor, a friend recovering from surgery, anyone — we'd love to help their pup too.
