The 3 mistakes every beginner makes in the gym (and how to fix them)

I've been training for years and I see the same mistakes from every beginner who walks into a gym. Here's what they are and how to actually fix them:

1. Program hopping

You don't need a new program every 2 weeks. Pick one structured beginner routine (PPL, Starting Strength, whatever) and run it for at least 12 weeks. Progressive overload is what builds muscle — not variety.

2. Ego lifting

Nobody cares how much you bench. Drop the weight, slow down the eccentric, feel the muscle work. You'll grow faster with lighter weight and better form than you will throwing around plates you can't control.

3. Ignoring nutrition

You can't out-train a bad diet. If you're a beginner, you don't need to count every macro — but you need to eat enough protein (0.7-1g per lb of bodyweight) and stop skipping meals.

The gym isn't complicated. Show up, follow a program, eat right, sleep, repeat. That's literally it.
