šŸ“ Welcome to PingPower Athletics — Start Here

Welcome to the team. You've just made the best investment in your table tennis career.

Here's how to get the most out of your membership:

Getting Started (Do These First)

  1. Complete Module 1 — Start with "Why Rowers Make Better Table Tennis Players" to understand the science behind our method. Then do your baseline erg test so we can calibrate your training zones.

  1. Set up your erg space — You'll need access to a Concept2 or similar rowing ergometer. Lesson 2 covers the ideal setup and what metrics to track.

  1. Introduce yourself in the Members Locker Room — Drop your playing level, goals, and what erg you're using. This community is your accountability partner.

Weekly Rhythm

  • Monday/Wednesday/Friday — Erg power interval sessions (follow the course modules in order)

  • Tuesday/Thursday — Table tennis practice with strategy integration

  • Weekend — Active recovery or match play

Ground Rules

  • šŸ“Š Track everything — Log your erg splits and table tennis match results

  • šŸ’¬ Ask questions — No question is too basic. Post in the Locker Room.

  • šŸ” Trust the process — The first 2-3 weeks feel brutal. By week 4, you'll feel the difference on the table.

The training method elite table tennis players don't talk about

Most competitive table tennis players focus exclusively on technique — spin variations, serve placement, footwork patterns. And those matter.

But here's what separates the top 1% from everyone else: cardiovascular dominance.

When you're in the 5th set at 9-9, technique doesn't abandon you — your body does. Your legs slow down. Your recovery between points collapses. Your decision-making degrades because your brain is starving for oxygen.

Enter the rowing erg.

Rowing is the single most effective cross-training tool for table tennis players because it builds:

  • 🫁 VO2 max — so you recover between rallies faster than your opponent

  • šŸ’Ŗ Posterior chain power — the same muscles that drive explosive footwork

  • 🧠 Mental toughness under fatigue — rowing intervals teach you to execute when your body is screaming to stop

I've spent 15+ years coaching table tennis strategy and integrating erg-based power intervals into my athletes' programs. The results speak for themselves — players who train this way consistently outlast opponents in deep matches.

If you're serious about winning when it matters most, this is the edge you've been missing.
