Why I built a second-monitor app for Android tablets (not iPad)

Everyone builds display tools for iPad. Sidecar exists. Luna Display exists. But if you own an Android tablet? You're stuck with janky apps from 2018 or nothing at all.

I kept running into this problem — I have a perfectly good Samsung tablet sitting on my desk, and my MacBook couldn't use it as a second screen without some unstable third-party hack.

So I built Piped Display.

What it does:

  • Turns any Android tablet into an extended or mirrored display for your Mac

  • Works over USB (free) or secured WiFi (Pro)

  • Low latency, no frame drops, no weird driver installs

Who it's for:

  • Remote workers who need more screen space without buying a monitor

  • Developers who want a secondary terminal/docs view

  • Anyone who already owns an Android tablet and a Mac

The free version covers USB connectivity with solid resolution. Pro adds wireless mode, higher res, and multi-tablet support for $4.99/mo.

If you've been looking for this, give it a try — I'd genuinely love feedback on what to build next.
