The 5 products that will make or break your detailing business

I've seen hundreds of new detailers blow money on products they don't need. Here's the truth — you only need 5 products to start making real money:

1. A quality APC (All Purpose Cleaner) — This handles 80% of interior work. Dilute it down for leather, concentrate it for floor mats. One bottle, endless uses.

2. A solid compound/polish combo — You don't need 15 different polishes. Get one cutting compound and one finishing polish. That's it. Master those two before you buy anything else.

3. A reliable ceramic spray sealant — Forget the $200 coatings for now. A good spray sealant gives your clients that "wow" factor and lasts 3-6 months. Upsell reapplication.

4. Quality microfiber towels — This is where most beginners cheap out and it shows. Get proper 300-400 GSM towels. They pay for themselves by preventing scratches (and angry customers).

5. A foam cannon setup — It's not just for show. A proper foam pre-wash cuts your wash time in half and reduces the risk of swirl marks. Time saved = more cars per day = more money.

That's it. You can start a profitable mobile detailing business with under $500 in products. The rest is technique — and that's what separates the guys charging $50 from the guys charging $500.

Stop buying, start earning.
