I've been producing for years, and looking back, these are the things that would have saved me months of frustration:

1. Your DAW doesn't matter (yet). FL Studio, Ableton, Logic — they all do the same thing. Pick one and commit for 6 months. Stop DAW-hopping.

2. Finish bad songs. The #1 skill in production isn't sound design or mixing — it's finishing. A finished bad song teaches you 10x more than 50 half-done loops.

3. Learn one synth deeply. Don't download 30 plugins. Pick Serum, Vital, or whatever came with your DAW, and learn every knob. You'll be shocked what one synth can do.

4. Reference tracks are your secret weapon. Drag a song you love into your DAW and A/B it constantly. This trains your ears faster than any YouTube tutorial.

5. Consistency beats inspiration. Open your DAW every day, even for 20 minutes. The people who "make it" aren't more talented — they just showed up more.
