The 3 mistakes destroying your skin barrier (and what to do instead)
Been helping people fix their skin for years. These are the 3 things I see over and over again:
1. Over-cleansing
If your face feels "squeaky clean" after washing, you're stripping your skin barrier. That tight feeling isn't clean — it's damage. Switch to a gentle, low-pH cleanser and wash max twice a day.
2. Layering too many actives
Retinol + AHA + vitamin C + niacinamide all in one night? Your skin isn't a chemistry lab. Pick ONE active, use it consistently for 4-6 weeks, then reassess. More products ≠ better skin.
3. Skipping moisturizer because you're oily
This is the biggest myth in skincare. Oily skin still needs hydration. When you skip moisturizer, your skin overproduces oil to compensate. Use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer — your skin will actually become LESS oily over time.
The best skincare routine isn't the most expensive one. It's the simplest one you actually stick to.
