Why I stopped using Google Analytics (and what I use instead)

Google Analytics is free. It's also 13KB of JavaScript, requires cookie consent banners, makes your privacy policy a nightmare, and shows you 47 reports when you only need 5.

Here's what most website owners actually need to know:

  • How many people visited today

  • Where they came from

  • Which pages they looked at

  • What country/device they're on

  • Whether they clicked the thing you wanted them to click

That's it. That's the whole list.

I built PureAnalytics around this idea. One script (2.5KB). One dashboard. Zero cookies. GDPR-compliant by default because we don't collect personal data in the first place.

No consent banners cluttering your site. No data being shipped to ad networks. No 6-hour certification course just to read a traffic report.

If you run a blog, small business site, or SaaS landing page — you probably don't need Google Analytics. You need something that respects your visitors and gives you the numbers without the noise.

That's what we built.
